Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
