Devoted fans of the actress are demanding that a man who jumped a barrier and touched the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared video shows the Australian man bypassing media personnel and lunging at Grande while the actors made its way down a yellow carpet flanked by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being taken in", though legal records revealed that he was set to be present on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram feed features clips of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last winter.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.
Many followers accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented another message on Instagram.
Several attendees also faulted guards at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while some requested online networks to remove Mr Wen's videos.
In videos shared widely, Grande appeared surprised when she was grabbed by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Many of fans had gathered in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had queued for as long as many hours before it began.
The movie, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the second of a two-film version of the popular theatrical production Wicked, which centers on the unlikely relationship between two distinct characters.
The production itself is a derivative of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful movie of 2024 in the UK, and scored 10 award recognitions, securing two for excellent wardrobe and production design.
