The latest Far Cry game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for celebrating violence and madness with the same excitement, all while weaving captivating, ideologically themed narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two creators whose projects have represented all of those elements.
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game series, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' format by having a new location and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX team continues to lift me up with their constant trust and support.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone program. Every title is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always examining the core of people through this complex and chaotic lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and present our common irreverent, daring style to the audience.”
A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
