Patrick Bamford Signs With the Blades After Leading Derogatory Songs About Coach Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with Sheffield United only half a year following starting insulting songs aimed at the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

This experienced striker, a free agent after departing from Leeds United, has agreed to a agreement joining the second-tier strugglers until January. Bamford's lengthy time at Elland Road finished amicably in August.

One of Bamford’s last memorable actions while at Leeds was to lead abusive songs about Wilder amid the club’s promotion party this spring. Now, the one-cap England player is set to play for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss seeks to lift the team he loves away from the bottom places.

Past Conflict Between Bamford and Wilder

Both men had history prior to Leeds moved up to the top flight the previous campaign while Sheffield United lost the playoff final to Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as “a muppet” back when the roles were reversed in 2018-19 and the Blades secured direct promotion while Leeds missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Making Amends and Looking Ahead

Everything seems to have been put behind them with Sheffield United, the Championship’s least productive attack, in desperate need of improvement in attack while Bamford looking to resurrect his playing days.

The song about Wilder went viral this spring. An apologetic Patrick along with Leeds boss, Farke, called Wilder the following day.

Chris Wilder stated back then: “Had a conversation with Pat yesterday and I have no problem whatsoever with that. I’m not sure about the words used from a fellow pro! However I valued and admired him giving me a call.

“We spent 20 minutes and similarly I talked with Daniel as well and had a longer discussion with him and he is a great person, a class act. Back in my playing days we would dish it out and accept it and that is an integral part of football at every level, even on Sunday league. I have no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I said that to Pat.”

Latest Career Challenges

Bamford made 18 games with Leeds United in the previous campaign but the ex- Forest, Chelsea FC & Middlesbrough striker has struggled with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
